Quick answers
What does the Skool Hobby plan include?
Unlimited members, unlimited courses, unlimited videos and unlimited live calls, for $9 a month ($7.50 paid yearly) and 10% + 30¢ of each payment. Unlike Pro, it has no custom URL and no affiliates.
Is Skool free?
Not to run a group: Hobby costs $9 a month after a 14-day free trial. Groups themselves can be free to join; Skool's payments FAQ describes "a free group with 100 free members".
How much does Skool take per sale?
Hobby takes 10% + 30¢ of every payment; Pro takes 2.9% + 30¢, or 3.9% + 30¢ on payments above $900. Card processing is included. On a $49 membership that's $5.20 on Hobby and $1.72 on Pro.
When is Skool Pro worth it?
When your group takes in more than $1,268 a month ($1,049 paying yearly): 26 members at $49, or 13 at $99. Below that Hobby leaves more, unless you need a custom URL or affiliates. If your payments are above $900 each, Pro's fee is 3.9%, so they have to add up to more than $1,475 a month before Pro leaves more.
Does Skool's Growth Boost change this?
It adds a cut of its own: Skool takes 30% of payments from members its discovery brings you, on top of the plan's fee. It's on by default and can be switched off. A $49 member Skool brings leaves you $32.58 on Pro and $29.10 on Hobby.
